The Hiker

I’m Joe Robinson, an online professional currently based in Los Angeles, CA. I’m also a photographer and an avid outdoorsman. I’ll be posting photos, videos, and stories from my journey throughout the summer of 2012 on Facebook, as well as right here at 100marathons.org

I’m quitting my job.  I’m selling my car.  I’m moving my stuff into storage.  And I’m walking from Mexico to Canada to raise $25,000 for MS.  Join me.

The hike has started!  I hope to reach Canada by mid-September.  To follow along, simple click the blue “Like on Facebook” button below.  Even if you don’t have Facebook, you can still see photos, videos, and my current location on the trail!

The Cause

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) stops people from moving.  The MS Society exists to make sure it doesn’t.  My mother was diagnosed shortly before my birth. Through my journey, I’ll raise awareness and funds for a disease that affects millions of families worldwide.

The Journey

Join me as I escape the urban grind and embrace the ecstatic on the Pacific Crest Trail.  During my journey, I’ll throw some psychic as well as material punches at the disease that finally took my mother in 2006 – while I walk over 100 marathons in a row on the PCT, a brutal and beautiful 2,650-mile trek from Mexico to Canada.

As a photographer, I couldn't be more excited for a summer of big views, big miles, and big personalities.  I’ll be capturing the sweeping panoramas indicative of the PCT and compiling my work into a photographic book of panoramas; the only single-season work of its kind.

During my 4½ month trip, I’ll pass 1000 lakes, climb over 250,000 vertical feet, and take six million steps.  I’ll be giving up everything for a cause that has changed my life and beginning a journey that I hope will do the same.
How You Can Help

Donate to the MS society, and like/share 100marathons.org on Facebook to help spread the word. Even a buck tells the world that there are some things worth stopping for, worth doing a little bit for, in hopes of making the world a little better.  If you can swing it, give a little more.  Maybe one cent for every mile I’ll walk?   Might have to give up coffee for a week… Challenge your friends to matching donations.  Be creative!  And remember: 100% of your donation goes to the MS society, and it’s fully tax-deductible.

I’m fighting MS in the only way I know how: by MOVING.  It’s my hope that even if you can’t move, you can still join me on my journey to take another small step in the right direction.
